Our New House!

Little House in a College Town

 I am pleased to announce that we have our first house.  We move in around the end of June, after some painting and other necessary work is completed.  We're so delighted!  So here is a bit of a tour.

The front door.

 The house was built in 1947 by a professor in the college town we live in.  The exterior and interior are western cedar.  A portrait of the house painted by the professor's wife is handed down to each owner.

Up until a year ago, we lived in the same neighborhood.  John used to pass by this house every day on his way to work.  He always loved the house.  When we were house hunting John found out it was on the market, saw the pictures of the interior and fell in love.  So, not only are we moving into a new house, but it is down the street from where we lived when Gabriel was born.  There is a park nearby, and a great path for biking, walking, strollering, running that goes between the football stadium and the main campus of the college.

Looking forward to filling the china cabinet.

When the house was built in the 1940's, Colonial Revival was popular.  Colonial style details like the built in corner china cabinet and iron wrought door handle and hinges are found throughout the house.

I have some china bowls from Williamsburg that will look so cute on the corner shelf.
